Kitchen Workflow Planner

A practical planner for the kitchen you already have. Answer questions about your layout, work areas, storage, small appliances, cleanup routine, and household traffic, and it explains what is working, where the everyday friction is, and the first three changes most homeowners would make. It is organization guidance, not a kitchen design service, a remodeling estimator, or contractor, electrical, plumbing, gas, appliance, or building-code advice.

Small appliances used regularly

Daily use and traffic

How this tool works

The planner scores four areas from your answers — preparation and cooking, storage and organization, cleanup and convenience, and traffic and shared use — using fixed, published rules rather than AI. Each answer adjusts a specific area by a set amount, all scores are clamped to 0–100, and the overall score is a weighted blend. The lowest-scoring, highest-friction findings, adjusted for your primary goal and stated frustrations, become a ranked list of first steps.

Example: A medium L-shaped kitchen with limited preparation space, several appliances living on the counter, dishes stored across the room, and a walkway through the work area usually scores lowest on preparation and traffic, so clearing one dependable prep counter comes first and relocating everyday dishes comes second.

Assumptions used

  • The planner works from how you describe your kitchen today. It does not measure the room and it does not assume a remodel.
  • The classic work triangle is treated as one planning idea among several, not a universal rule. Many kitchens today have several users, an island, and open-concept traffic that the triangle does not describe well.
  • Scores describe how smoothly everyday routines are likely to run. They are not a design rating and they are not a safety, code, or appliance assessment.
  • Answering "Unsure" is treated neutrally. It lowers confidence in that area rather than counting against your kitchen.

Practical tips

  • One dependable clear preparation area usually solves more daily frustration than any organizer purchase.
  • Store items where they are first used, not where there happens to be room — dishes near the dishwasher, coffee supplies together, baking items near the counter you bake on.
  • Counter appliances earn their space by frequency. Anything used less than weekly is usually better stored.
  • Trash and recycling within a step of the preparation counter changes cleanup more than most people expect.
  • If the kitchen doubles as the household command center, give the paperwork its own defined spot away from food preparation.
