Home Accessibility Planner

A calm, practical planner for the home you already have. Answer questions about your entry, walking paths, stairs, lighting, seating, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen reach, storage, laundry, nighttime movement, and guest needs, and it explains what is working well, what may be worth reviewing, and the first three changes many homeowners in a similar situation would consider. It is general educational guidance — not an accessibility certification, safety inspection, ADA compliance check, or medical assessment.

This planner helps you think through how easy your home is to enter, move through, and use every day. It is general educational guidance — not an accessibility certification, a safety inspection, an ADA compliance check, or a medical or fall-risk assessment. It never asks for medical information, and nothing you enter is stored.

How this tool works

The planner scores four areas from your answers — entry and movement, daily-living ease, lighting and navigation, and future adaptability — using fixed, published rules rather than AI. Each answer adjusts a specific area by a set amount, all scores are clamped to 0–100, and the overall indicator is a weighted blend. The lowest-scoring findings, adjusted for your primary concern and planning timeframe, become a ranked list of first steps grouped into small adjustments, products worth considering, and topics for professional review.

Example: A two-story home where the bathroom requires stairs, the nighttime path is dark, and living-room seating feels too low usually scores lowest on lighting and daily-living ease, so improving the nighttime path comes first, reconsidering the seating comes second, and discussing a main-floor bathroom option with a qualified professional becomes a longer-term planning topic.

Assumptions used

  • The planner works from how you describe your home today. It does not measure doorways, inspect the home, or apply building-code or ADA thresholds.
  • Scores are planning indicators that describe everyday ease of use. They are not safety ratings, accessibility certifications, or professional evaluations.
  • Answering "Unsure" is treated neutrally. It lowers confidence in that area rather than counting against your home.
  • No medical information is requested, used, or stored. Household situation questions stay general on purpose.

Practical tips

  • Lighting is usually the least expensive change with the largest everyday effect, especially along the nighttime path between the bedroom and bathroom.
  • One dependable clear walking path through the main living area often matters more than rearranging the whole room.
  • Frequently used items are easiest to live with when they sit between knee and shoulder height.
  • Seating with firm support and real arms is far easier to get into and out of than seating that is low, deep, or very soft.
  • If larger changes are being considered, it is usually worth reviewing them with an appropriately qualified professional before deciding.

The Home Accessibility Planner offers general educational guidance to help you think through everyday ease of use. It does not determine whether a home is safe, accessible, ADA compliant, or suitable for a specific medical or mobility condition, and it is not a home inspection, fall-risk assessment, or occupational-therapy evaluation. Larger changes should be reviewed with appropriately qualified professionals. Nothing you enter here is stored by Total Home Fusion.
