Home Cleaning Schedule Generator

Most cleaning plans fail for the same reason: they assume every household has the same home, the same schedule, the same energy, and the same priorities. This generator starts with your actual situation — the rooms you have, who lives there, how much time you realistically have, and what matters most to you — and builds a routine you can keep. If the plan would ask more of you than your time allows, it eases up on the lower-priority tasks instead of pretending otherwise.

Step 1 of 5: Your home

Your home

Optional — helps size the longer tasks.

How this tool works

Each task in the library carries a base frequency, a typical duration, and the room or condition that makes it relevant. Your answers filter that library, priorities raise frequency, exclusions and delegated tasks remove items, and the remaining weekly work is distributed across your preferred days without exceeding your stated minutes. Overflow moves to the monthly list.

Example: A two-bedroom condo with one dog, 20 weekday minutes, and a balanced intensity produces a five-minute daily reset, four short weekday blocks plus one longer weekend block, a seven-item monthly list, and a seasonal list — with vacuuming raised to three times a week because pet hair was chosen as a priority.

Assumptions used

  • Task times are typical ranges for an average household. Your own pace may be faster or slower, and that is completely fine.
  • Only rooms and areas you tell us about are included. A home without a pool, garage, or lanai never sees those tasks.
  • If the weekly workload exceeds the time you said you have, lower-priority tasks move to monthly rather than being crammed in.

Practical tips

  • Start with the lightest intensity that still keeps your home comfortable. It is much easier to add tasks later than to recover from a routine you abandoned.
  • Pair cleaning blocks with something you already do daily, such as after breakfast or before a favorite show.
  • Keep the printed schedule where the work happens — the kitchen or laundry room — rather than in a folder.
  • Use the rest day. A routine with no built-in break is the first one people quit.
