Lemon, wine, vinegar, tomato, and many cleaners. Marble polishing powder restores light etch marks.
Never fight etching with more cleaner
Acidic cleaners deepen the mark. Stop cleaning and switch to polishing.
Sealing does not prevent etching
Sealer stops staining; it does not stop acid from dulling the finish. Only fast wiping does.

- Salt air within a mile of the coast accelerates corrosion and finish wear; wipe metal and hardware weekly.
- Snowbird and closed-up months are the highest-risk period; leave A/C on 78 °F and cover pieces exposed to direct light.
