How this tool works

Surfaces are summed, deductions subtracted, and a waste allowance added. The recommended tile square footage is divided by the tile's face area (tile width × tile height) to get tile count, and by square feet per box to get box count. Both values are rounded up.

Example: A shower wall with 60 sq ft of surface and 4 sq ft of deductions has 56 sq ft net. A 12% offset waste raises it to ~62.7 sq ft. With 12 × 24 inch tiles (2 sq ft each) and 10 sq ft per box, that's about 32 tiles and 7 boxes.

Assumptions used

Surfaces are treated as rectangles (width × height or width × length).
Waste allowance depends on installation pattern and can be overridden with a custom percentage.
Tile count and box count are always rounded up to the next whole unit.
Grout-joint width is captured for context but is not deducted from the tile face area.

Practical tips

Keep at least one full box after installation for future repairs.
