For nightly use, look for memory foam at 4 lb/ft³ or higher and a polyfoam core at 1.8 lb/ft³ or higher. Lower is acceptable in guest rooms.

Does higher density mean firmer?

No. Density measures mass per cubic foot, which tracks durability. Firmness is measured separately, often as ILD.

Honest tradeoffs
