Ink is dye in a carrier solvent. The carrier is what spreads it, which is why dabbing with an absorbent barrier underneath matters most.

Blot straight down with a white cloth

On cushions, a towel behind the fabric absorbs ink pushed through instead of letting it hit the foam.
Isopropyl alcohol only on W and WS codes
Test hidden first. On S-code fabrics use a dry-cleaning solvent instead.

- Humidity spikes after storms — run dehumidifiers or A/C to hold indoor RH under 55%.
- Salt air within a mile of the coast accelerates corrosion and finish wear; wipe metal and hardware weekly.
- Snowbird and closed-up months are the highest-risk period; leave A/C on 78 °F and cover pieces exposed to direct light.
