Consistent, material-appropriate care is the single biggest factor in how long furniture and mattresses stay comfortable and beautiful. In Florida, humidity, salt air, and UV compound quickly — a small monthly routine prevents years of avoidable wear.

Wash weekly, warm not hot
Warm water removes body oils without breaking down fibers as fast as hot. Two sets in rotation makes the habit sustainable.
Skip fabric softener
Softener coats fibers, reduces breathability, and makes cotton sheets sleep hotter — a real problem in Florida. A half cup of white vinegar in the rinse softens without residue.
Rotate sets, extend life
Alternating two or three sets roughly triples how long any one set lasts, because the wear is spread out.
Dry fully and quickly
Line-dried sheets in Florida humidity can pick up moisture and odor. Finish in a dryer on low if the air is heavy.

- Salt air within a mile of the coast accelerates corrosion and finish wear; wipe metal and hardware weekly.
- Snowbird and closed-up months are the highest-risk period; leave A/C on 78 °F and cover pieces exposed to direct light.
